Beadlock Marine Ceramic Coating

Built for hot, humid water. Strong enough to only need one coat.

Beadlock Marine is not Beadlock Pro in a boat-shaped bottle. It's a separate formula: roughly 2.5x more concentrated, with the solvency reworked for the marine environment. That concentration is the whole point. Gel coat is porous, and a standard coating gets absorbed into it, which is why Beadlock Pro asks for several layers on a boat. Marine lays down enough material in a single coat that you're done in one pass.

It was formulated with hot, humid climates in mind. The SiO2 backbone gives you the hardness and the water behavior; the concentration gives you the coverage.

Not just boats. Gel coat, boat bumper rails, metal, glass and painted plastic. It also works on vehicles, travel trailers, motor homes and wave runners. Anything that lives outside and takes abuse.

Coverage

One 50 ml bottle covers a Malibu LSV 23 or a boat of similar size. The 100 ml is for larger hulls or a detailer running several jobs off one bottle.

Directions

Prep. The coating locks in whatever is underneath it, so the surface has to be clean and bare. Polish first if the gel coat is oxidized or has defects. Then wipe the surface down with Throw Back paint cleanser to strip any polishing oils or residue. Skip this and the coating bonds to the oil instead of the surface.

Apply. Shake well. Apply directly to the applicator pad and spread evenly over a manageable section. Within seconds you'll see an "oil slick / rainbow" look as it starts to flash.

Level. Give it a minimum of 60 seconds to set up, then remove with a clean microfiber towel. How do you know it's ready? Test-wipe a small spot. The coating should give slight resistance under the towel. That resistance is your signal. If it's genuinely hard to remove, you waited too long. Follow with a second clean towel to make sure it's even and level. Once you've made that second pass the coating is setting up. Do not come back and re-wipe that area minutes later or you'll streak it.

Cure. Dry to the touch in about an hour, fully cured at 48 hours. Keep it dry and out of the weather for that window. Additional coats are optional, spaced an hour apart, though with a formula this concentrated one coat is doing the job on most surfaces.

Keeping it alive

A marine coating lives a harder life than one on a car. It sits in water, bakes in the sun, and picks up mineral deposits every time the boat comes out. Two products do the maintenance:

• Aftermath: use it right after you dock, before spots have time to set. It pulls the water spots off and rehydrates the coating in the same pass.
• Wake Up: for water spots that have already dug in, work it by hand on the affected areas. Wake Up also revives a coating that's lost some of its bite and adds protection back on top of it, which is how you stretch that 2-year window.

Pairs well with

• Wake Up: correction and protection on oxidized gel coat before you coat, and the revival product after.
• Aftermath: mineral etching and water spots off before the coating goes on, and off the coating every time you dock.
• Jetty Boat Soap: the boat soap that maintains the coating instead of stripping it.
• The Pro Coat - Ceramic Applicator Pad: the applicator this is meant to be spread with.
• Skipper Boat Wax: the wax option when a full ceramic coating is more than the boat needs.
