Shift Soap - Pure Vehicle Shampoo

Shift is a pH neutral, ceramic-safe shampoo built for coated, wrapped and PPF'd vehicles. It's genuinely pure: no silicone, no sodium lauryl sulfate, no waxes, no polymers, no gloss additives. Nothing that would leave a film on a surface that's already protected, and nothing that shortens the life of what's underneath.

What it does add is Bead Booster, SiO2 carried in the soap itself. So a routine wash isn't only taking dirt off. It's leaving a little silica behind, restoring the slickness and the tight beading that any coating gives up over a few months of weather. The maintenance you already do becomes the thing that keeps it performing.

The lather is thick and long lasting, which matters more on a coated car than a bare one. Wash marring comes from grit dragged across the paint, and lubrication is what keeps the grit floating instead of cutting. You spent real money on that coating. The soap is not the place to save fifteen dollars.

Where it stops. Shift is a maintenance soap, built to preserve rather than strip. On a genuinely neglected car with baked-on road film, pre-wash with Hole Shot first, then do the contact wash with Shift. And if the vehicle isn't coated at all and you want the harder cleaner, that's Hot Shot.

16 oz. or gallon? The gallon holds the same soap as eight 16 oz. bottles. Eight of those would run $144. At $64 the gallon is about 56% less for the same amount of soap. Shift is concentrated, so a little goes a long way either way, and if you're washing a coated car every week or two the gallon is the one that gets used.

Directions

Foam cannon or hose foam gun

1. Add 2 to 4 oz. of Shift to the bottle, then fill the rest with water.
2. Rinse the vehicle to remove loose dirt and debris.
3. Blanket the vehicle in foam and let it dwell briefly.
4. Follow with a contact wash using clean wash media.
5. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a quality drying towel.

Bucket wash

1. Rinse the vehicle to remove loose contamination.
2. Add about 4 oz. of Shift to the bucket.
3. Fill with water. The force of the fill activates the suds, so soap first, water second.
4. Wash from the top down with clean wash media.
5. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely so you don't finish with water spots.

Pro tip: run two buckets with grit guards. On an uncoated car a bit of wash marring hides in the paint. On a coated car it sits in a layer that's harder than the clear coat underneath, and correcting it means taking the coating off and starting again. Separating wash water from rinse water is the cheapest insurance on this page.

In direct sun, work one section at a time and never let the soap dry on a hot panel. Shift handles sun better than most, but dried soap leaves the minerals from your water sitting on the surface.
