Smooth Move - Paint Decontaminator

THE PAINT FEELS ROUGH BECAUSE OF SOMETHING YOU CAN'T SEE.

Run your hand over a freshly washed panel and it still feels gritty. That's embedded iron: brake dust from your own car and everyone else's, rail dust, industrial fallout, all of it fired into the clear coat and corroding there. Washing does nothing to it because it isn't sitting on the surface, it's in it.

Smooth Move dissolves it chemically. Spray it on and the iron turns red as it reacts, so you can watch the contamination bleed out of paint that looked perfectly clean a minute ago. When it stops running red, it's out.

Acid free and pH balanced, so it works on the iron rather than on the paint. No etching, no deterioration, and nothing to fear on a finish you care about.

Safe on ceramic coated vehicles. Worth saying plainly, because most people assume a decon product is off limits once a car is coated. It isn't. Iron lands on coated cars too, and this takes it off without touching the coating.

Why bother? Because everything after this is better for it. Polish cuts cleaner on decontaminated paint, a clay mitt has less to shear off, and any wax, sealant or coating bonds to the paint rather than to the contamination sitting in it. Skip this step before a coating and you seal the iron under it for years.

Directions

1. Wash and rinse the vehicle first.
2. Shake well, then spray onto the surfaces you want to decontaminate.
3. Wait 2 to 3 minutes while the contamination turns purple-red.
4. Rub the surface with a damp wash mitt or a soft microfiber towel.
5. Rinse well with water.

Pro tip: make your own iron-removing soap. Mix it into your Foam Thrower and you decontaminate the whole car during the wash rather than as a separate stage.

Chemical decon is only half the job. Smooth Move dissolves iron. It doesn't touch bonded fallout, overspray or tree sap, which have to be sheared off mechanically. Follow with the Shine Supply Clay Mitt and plenty of Shine Mist for lubrication. Never clay dry.

16 oz. or gallon? The gallon holds the same product as eight 16 oz. bottles. Eight of those would run $144. At $78 the gallon works out to $9.75 per 16 oz., about 46% less. Decon is a job you do properly or not at all, and doing it properly uses more product than people expect, so the gallon makes sense for anyone correcting or coating regularly.
