Leather & Interior Cleaner

Leather & Interior Cleaner is pH balanced, non-toxic and built on an emulsifier system that surrounds the dirt and carries it up off the surface. Nothing aggressive is happening to the material underneath, which is why the same bottle is safe on delicate leather and still gets a filthy door panel clean.

It's ready to use, so there's no mixing and no guessing at a ratio. Leather, vinyl and plastic: seats, dash, door panels, console, and the spots in the carpet that don't need a full extraction. Shine Supply also rates it safe on suede and Alcantara, which is worth knowing if you work on cars that have them.

It's a cleaner, not a conditioner. It preps and cleans but it doesn't feed the surface or leave anything behind, which is exactly what you want before conditioning and exactly why you shouldn't stop here. On leather, follow with Leather Conditioner. On everything else, finish with Cruise, Clean 'n Shine or Dressed Up, depending on how much depth you want in the plastics.

The zero-shine option. Plenty of customers don't want a glossy dash. Used on its own and wiped dry, this leaves a completely flat, clean finish with nothing slick to the touch, which makes it a one-step interior for anyone who wants clean and nothing else. Glass is the exception. Use Sun Shine on the windows and screens.

16 oz. or gallon? The gallon holds the same cleaner as eight 16 oz. bottles. Eight of those would run $152. At $47 the gallon works out to $5.88 per 16 oz., about 69% less. Interiors are on every job, so this is one of the easier gallons in the line to justify.

Directions

Leather and delicate surfaces

1. Shake well.
2. Spray directly onto a leather brush.
3. Scrub the surface to lift the dirt out of the grain.
4. Wipe the residue up with a soft microfiber towel.
5. Follow with Leather Conditioner.

One-step interior wipe down

1. Shake well.
2. Spray onto a brush or a microfiber towel.
3. Clean the dash, door panels, vinyl and plastic.
4. Wipe dry for a flat, zero-shine finish.

Suede and Alcantara. Shine Supply's method is to spray into a microfiber towel rather than onto the material, agitate the area lightly, then brush the nap back up with a soft brush so the cleaned patch doesn't sit matted and darker than the panel around it. As with anything on suede, test a hidden area first.

Pro tip: spray the brush, not the surface. On delicate leather it keeps product from pooling in the perforations and seams, and everywhere else it keeps overspray off the glass and screens, which is the part you'd otherwise spend ten minutes chasing.

Don't skip the conditioning step on leather. Cleaning takes the oils out along with the dirt. Leather that's cleaned and never fed is how you get the cracking down the seat bolster three years early.
