Clean 'n Shine - Clean and Condition

That's the part of Clean 'n Shine most people don't know about, and it's the reason a dash you've done with it stays looking done. The UV package protects the plastics from the sun, which is the obvious job. It also carries an anti-static charge, so dust and airborne grit have less to cling to. Less dust settling means the interior reads clean for longer between wipe downs, not just cleaner the day you did it.

The rest of it is one-step simplicity. Mild cleaning agents lift grime and build-up off the dash, console and door panels, while conditioners penetrate the surface and bring back the rich satin finish that sun and age flatten out. Clean and condition in one pass, no two-product routine.

It finishes non-greasy and dry to the touch. Satin, not gloss. Nothing slick, nothing that catches the light wrong on a sunny day, and nothing that transfers onto your sleeve.

It also smells very good, which is not nothing when the customer gets in twenty minutes after you finish.

Same bottle, same finish, outside the car. Clean 'n Shine gives tires a clean satin, new-rubber look rather than a wet gloss, which is exactly what a lot of people want and what a lot of dressings won't do.

Where it sits inside

Three products cover interior plastics and the difference is how much finish you want:

• Cruise: completely flat. Zero shine, factory look.
• Clean 'n Shine: satin. Cleans, conditions and protects, with a little depth back in the plastic.
• Dressed Up: the most conditioning, for plastics that have gone properly faded rather than just dirty.

For glass and screens, neither this nor any conditioner belongs there. That's Sun Shine.

16 oz. or gallon? The gallon holds the same product as eight 16 oz. bottles. Eight of those would run $168. At $59 the gallon works out to $7.38 per 16 oz., about 65% less. Between interiors and tires this one gets reached for constantly, so it earns its shelf space quickly.

Directions

Interior plastics and vinyl

1. Apply Clean 'n Shine to an applicator or a microfiber towel. Either works, but the applicator works more product down into the plastic, so you get more of the conditioning out of it. A towel is quicker when it's a light maintenance wipe.
2. Work it onto the surface and let it soak in. Don't chase it while it's still wet.
3. Come back and level it out with a clean microfiber towel. That pass is what leaves the surface dry to the touch and perfectly even, with no high spots and no shiny patches where the product pooled.

Tires

1. Start with clean, dry tires. Strip the old dressing off with Wise Guy first, or the satin goes on blotchy.
2. Apply Clean 'n Shine to the tire and leave it alone to soak in and set up.
3. Come back and level it out with a brush. The Extra Long Soft Bristle Brush for most tires, or The Feather on low-profile and smooth sidewalls.

Brushes for tires, applicators and towels for the interior. A brush spreads evenly across a textured sidewall and gets into the lettering, where a pad rides over the top and leaves the low spots dry.

Pro tip: spray the applicator, not the panel. Overspray lands on glass and screens, and you'll spend longer chasing it off the windshield than the wipe down itself took. It also keeps product out of vent slats, where a towel can't follow.
