Punch It - Ceramic Detailer

THE CAR COMES OUT SLICKER THAN IT WENT IN.

Punch It is a ceramic detail spray heavily loaded with SiO2, blended with synthetic materials that make it behave more like a light sealant than a quick detailer. It leaves a glassy, hydrophobic surface you can feel with the back of your hand, and because that surface is slick, dirt and dust have far less to grip. The car stays clean longer rather than just looking clean today.

Expect 1 to 3 months of protection from it, which is a real number for something that goes on in the time a wipe down takes.

Safe on paint, glass, trim and wheels, and it works on cars, trucks, boats and RVs alike.

Which detail spray?

All three clean and finish. The difference is what they leave behind.

• Throttle: leaves nothing. The pure wipe down, and the safe choice on matte paint.
• Punch It: leaves silica. Adds slickness and 1 to 3 months of protection, and boosts a coating.
• Ride Shine: leaves carnauba. Warmth and depth on waxed cars, but not for coated ones.

On a ceramic coated car, Punch It boosts slickness and water behavior without needing a full recoat. On an uncoated one it's protection in its own right, and it tops up any wax or sealant already down there. Step up to Clutch when you want 3 to 4 months rather than 1 to 3.

Always on a freshly washed car. Punch It isn't a cleaner and it has no lubrication to spare for grit. Putting it on a dirty panel means dragging that grit across the paint.

Three ways to use it

1. Final wipe down. The usual one.

1. Wash and fully dry the vehicle.
2. Spray one or two sprays onto a clean microfiber towel, not onto the paint.
3. Wipe one panel at a time.
4. Flip to a dry side of the towel and buff to a streak-free finish.

2. As a drying aid. This is the one most people don't know about, and it's the best of the three: you add protection during a step you're already doing, and the extra slickness means the towel drags less across the paint.

1. Wash and rinse, then leave the vehicle wet.
2. Lightly mist Punch It onto one wet panel.
3. Dry that panel immediately with a quality drying towel.
4. Move on and repeat, one panel at a time.

3. Spray on, rinse off. The quick boost when you haven't got time for anything else.

1. Wash and rinse thoroughly.
2. Working one panel at a time, lightly spray onto the wet surface.
3. Let it dwell 5 to 10 seconds.
4. Rinse completely before moving on.

Less is more, and this is the one thing to get right. Punch It carries a lot of silica, and using too much of it is far and away the most common cause of streaking. One or two sprays on the towel, not a wet panel. If you're getting streaks, you're using more product, not less.

Panel by panel, always. Especially as a drying aid. Mist the whole car and the first panel is drying on its own before you get back to it, and dried product is exactly what you're trying to avoid.

If you do get light streaking: switch to a clean towel, or go over it with Throttle, which adds nothing and cleans the streak off.

16 oz. or gallon? The gallon holds the same product as eight 16 oz. bottles. Eight of those would run $192. At $129 the gallon works out to $16.13 per 16 oz., about 33% less. A modest gap, so the gallon is for a shop finishing every car with it rather than a saving worth chasing at home.
